Prince Tennis Racquet Poster

Project: Prince Tennis Racquet

Class: Principle of Commercial Photography

Originally for the class our job was to take pictures of a product of our choosing in a photography lab.
I decided to pick my faithful tennis racquet because i love prince tennis products and
had a beautiful red glow which i wanted to capture on photo.

Purpose: After seeing how well the photos came out i decided i wanted to create a poster for prince tennis racquet because for tennis all of the advertisement focuses on the player then the product. I created this poster to help info customers about Prince Speedzone 105. The racquet head is heavy, and a light frame allowing the player to generate power and natural spin effortlessly.

My target audience: Tennis players who are ready to move from beginner level to intermediate level and is looking for a racquet that can generate spin on the ball.

  1. Chris, your product shots looks great in this layout. I have only a few thoughts that can improve the details of the design:

    1. The subheading/paragraph reads a bit awkwardly. I suggest something like this:

You love the sport. You always want to win. That’s why you play. Choosing the best racquet is part of the game.

    2. There is a confusing horizontal alignment happening between the 2 photos that sit side by side. Do you see that red elements that create a strange unity between the photos. Sometimes it's nice to design with corresponding photos... but here I think it's confusing. The photos need to be appear as 2 separate photos. So - consider switching their places, and/or re-cropping one or both... to stop that alignment from happening.

    That's it!

  2. Hi Chris, I agree with Coni that something about the photos isn't sitting well with me. I feel like I get stuck in the photos going around in a circle and I'm not sure where to look next, and feel like they're a bit cramped in an awkward layout.

Maybe even simply turning the top rocket around and having it point down to the text would get it a little more balance and help lead your eye to the text and not off the page, or perhaps three photos aren't necessary. One larger image might help from not distracting from the text. White wording on black backgrounds are hard as is to read when there's a lot so I would give the text as much breathing room as I could.

  3. Chris,
I'm also having issues with the two bottom photos. The one on the left leads me to the right, and then the right is leading me off the page. I'm sure there's something as simple as re-positioning these two photos that could fix this. The tennis ball is also bothering me because it's so dark compared to everything else, which leads me to believe it's even darker when printed.
Other than that I think it looks great. Even though I'm having an issue with the photos, I they look great and give me a good idea of what the product is. All the information is laid out in a fashion that makes it quick and easy to take in.
