This one was to create a layout for a typeface that includednumbers and the alphabet in that typeface. I made mine look like a page from an old book.
My problem is that I don't know witch one to use and witch on to can. Also what can I do to improve one or the other.

Shelby - I vote for the first one, with the interesting indented paragraphs. Consider adding leading below the "A" element... it seems to be sitting, and crushing, the first paragraph. Look at the space above the upside down variation in lower right... it might be nice if this neg space was consistent in both places.
ReplyDeleteAlso - to easily add more interest to this layout, I wonder if you would consider an axial grid? This will slant the whole layout, bleeding his portrait off the edges... and developing the design further. Look at Kayla's project (below) that took on a newly interesting aspect when tilted on the page.
Lastly - there are typos in this project. Please get help proofing this, and use the spell check in InDesign too. It will pick up the misspelling on "information" at the bottom of the page - and possibly more spelling issues.
Shelby,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Coni. The first piece is more interesting visually, but could use a little bit of help. I like the use of the A's in different sizes, but I'm wondering if you could play around with that. The A towards the left feels distant, and not part of the same element. Also, have you tried to see the piece without the A's on the bottom right. I think the piece will still be balanced, but might free up some space in that corner.
