This project was for intermediate layout class. MBDC is a real company, but we had to make a logo for them and then design a brochure. My target audience was architects, and the idea was to promote MBDC's green energy and environmentally conscious design principles.

S - I remember this project, and as I look it over carefully I see very little that I would suggest you change. Maybe, if you would consider adding a bit of texture to the green areas along the edge of your page - something subtle - that might be a nice addition. But... that's all I can think of! Maybe one of your peers will offer some other suggestions.
ReplyDeletei love your layout and that blueprint texture in the background. there not a lot of critique i can offer all i can say is back cover it a little detach from the rest of the project. i was wondering if you can make hannover principle paragraph a little smaller and color seem different.
ReplyDeleteHi Siobhan, like the rest, I don't see much to change. I think the design is well laid out and has a cohesive design and rhythm throughout. I do see Chris's point with maybe the back page seeming separate, but I think maybe making the title "Hannover Principles" mimic the design in the earlier pages would tie it all together... meaning make it white and put it on that blue bar like the rest.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the first spread with the circles of information however I feel like compared to the rest of the colors in the brochure the bubbles seemed a bit washed out. Maybe making them brighter hues would tie all in and make the percentages stand out more. Just a thought - hope this helps!

I am doing this project now and I have been struggling with how to keep the pages consistent and this is very inspirational! The green bar on the sides adds balance to the whole booklet, I can see how the cover differs, maybe if you were to incorporate that green bar on the cover instead of the triangulated pictures perhaps? Very clean and the layout is very professional.
ReplyDeleteI like the angles of the images and your use of negative space. The layout is really nice and there's a sense of rhythm throughout! And you're absolutely right the green bars definitely keep the pages consistent. I wonder what it would like if the lines on the front page were slightly thicker.
