Eurail Ad - Jackie

Hello Everyone,

I need a single advertisement to add to my portfolio. Due to the surplus of travel related pieces I currently have, I thought adding something for Eurail would be appropriate, however, I am stuck.

My target for this piece is young adults, and give some information for those unfamiliar with the brand, Eurail offers cheap packages for young adults traveling through Europe.

I was trying to go for a passport stamp kind of feel with "Roma" but I am not having much luck. Any suggestions overall?

Thanks in advance!
Jackie

  1. Jackie - the concept is a good one, but it hings on you convincing us that we are looking at a passport stamp. So - you need to search for passport stamps to get the feel and shape of them. Here is a nice round one, a bit different yet clearly recognizable as a stamp: http://mhisham.org/2013/05/13/contest-travel-around-the-world-with-power-98/

Make this stamp in Illustrator so you can control the edges (and use a filter to create those ragged edges). I would also encourage you to use an uneven color inside the shapes... use a green gradient that moves from the bright light green I see currently to a darker green - which will give it some weight on the page.

After you have created a new stamp with it's blobby edges and uneven coverage (they are stamped by hand, so they never are fully inked in) you should consider placing the EuroRail logo somewhere else. Currently it is floating in a large neg space, with to relationship to any other element... in terms of alignment and/or proximity.
