Here is my digital imaging piece. I made it a few years ago and the purpose of the piece was to create a layered cityscape while exploring photoshop effects to create an urban, grunge feel. I haven't revisited this piece in a long time so I feel like I'm looking at it with fresh eyes and I see a few minor tweaks I would like to try out, but I'm curious to see what others think!

Amanda,
ReplyDeleteOther than the minor tweaks you have in mind, the artwork, in my opinion, is done. But now... what's next? To make this a strong portfolio piece, I suggest you take it beyond the classroom assignment and add text to it. It could easily be a travel poster, or marketing ad for I (heart) NY. I found this text quickly with a google search - you can massage this, rewrite it, and find a place to add it INTO the design (not on top of it). See if this works for you:
Times Square is a neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan at the junction of Broadway and 7th Avenues. It runs from 42nd Street to 47th Street. It is part of the Broadway Theatre district. Some other names for the area are "The Crossroads of the World", "The Center of the Universe" and "The Great White Way". According to a survey in 2011, Times Squre is the World's most visited tourist attraction with over 39 million visitors annually. Times Square is also the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop. In any season, for any reason, come experience something you can't find anywhere else in the world.
