This is a rough of my logo, I took a few script typefaces that I thought resembled the look I was going for in my sketch and I believe this one is actually close. I am still erasing and breaking apart so I think I am making progress. I know this alone can't be read as an "L" and "P" so my name will be placed below. The goal was to make letters look visually interesting rather than clear to read.
Also, I am leaning towards this greenish color on the black below but I also like the Black and White as well. And I was thinking about adding some extra strokes and drop the opacity but I am not sure if that would be too chaotic.
I would love to know what everyone thinks!
Thank you in advance.
Lauryn

I relay like it. It looks goods in the red with black background and black with white background. I am not sure about the yellow and black. It might be that when a light color is on dark background it macks the lighter color look darker. It might be the black but the yellow looks greenish. If you want the yellow the background should be a dark brown or gold.
ReplyDeleteThis is really neat! I didn't realize it was supposed to have an L in there until I read your comment, but now I see it. If you're going for visual interest, you definitely got it.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the colored versions, to be honest. The black and white looks fantastic, but orange on black just makes me think of Halloween, and the yellow/green on black seems TOO bright to me. It might look better depending on how you incorporate it with the rest of your self-branding, though, so if it's what you want to use then you should definitely see how you can push yourself with it. I definitely think the design itself is in a good place.
I like the black and green version of the logo. That lime green just pops against the black, and it just adds some energy to the logo. I also like how you combines the L and P of your initials. Nice work
ReplyDeleteLauryn, I think the icon is quite lovely but additionally - I think no one will ever realize you have combined the P and L - since I've seen script "P"s have a lower stroke like this. SO... how can you make visible the 2 different letters here? I wonder if you have considered a color break between the 2? If you used a different color for each letter, and than a third color for where they overlap this could become quite clever! Think about the layer blending effect that happens when you ask the top layer to "multiply" with the bottom layer... often wherever the shapes overlap a 3rd color appears that is a combination of the 2. I encourage you to experiment with this idea... so the concept behind this icon becomes visible to the rest of us. As for colors... this approach might help you define the colors you use based on how they mix together... and what that could reflect about the designer behind the design (you).
