First 25 Rules of the Internet

Hey everyone,
For my next project, I'm going to be touching up on a list poster I did that includes the "first 25 rules of the internet". I'd post a link to the whole list, but some of that is inappropriate and you can google that on your own time ;). Anyways, I've already been messing around with this so I posted both the original and what I've done to it since. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with 24 & 25. The boxes are there because they reference the board where a lot of these rules originate, and look exactly like how a post would look, but I'm still unsure about it.

  1. Tony, This is improving - especially with the lighter background color.

The bottom remains a challenge for you, though. The root of the problem lies in the amount of information, and the size of your shapes. It still looks very cramped, closed in, and stuffed together. This is the only place where you have multiple #s for a section (18, 19, and 20 all pertain to that one area, right?). Because of that, the section needs more room in which to reside. The lack of negative space below it is contributing to the overcrowded situation.

So, the only thing left to do is to redesign the bottom, in my opinion... but it's an important last step. Resize, rewrite text if necessary to fit into smaller spaces. The white boxes are still a bit awkward... so I'm wondering if you can simply reduce them if they are supposed to be "screen shots." Do we really need to read them before all else down there?

After the redesign, if the white boxes are still distorting the visual hierarchy, consider running a light tint inside them... so they sit back, less emphasized.

After some work, print this and hold it up to a mirror (b/w or color will work). If your eyes move to the bottom (to those white boxes) before you have a chance to notice the middle section... it means you really must find a color replacement for the white. Check with others as well.

Potentially one of the strongest pieces in your book!
